Job Title: AppDynamics Engineer

Job Type: 4-to-6-month contract

Location: Mississauga, ON (Hybrid, Mondays and Thursdays in-office)

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Shift Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM


Summary:

Our client is looking for a talented APM (AppDynamics) Engineer to join their application development team and be responsible for configuring, maintaining, and monitoring services and applications for the AppDynamics APM platform. In addition, and where needed, you will build internal applications and tools to improve efficiency, automation, and system monitoring, including dashboards, reports, and application health monitoring for Production and Development APM clusters. The APM engineer will work closely with application development teams and the centralized DevOps team to ensure that their application services are high-performing, highly available, and stable.


Responsibilities:

  • Establish best practices for configuring, deploying, and monitoring the APM platform.
  • Help build and foster an open standard approach to the development lifecycle.
  • Implement security and polices for individual applications and services for each LOB deployed to the APM platform.
  • Provide guidance and, where needed, create custom dashboards, reports, and integration for application health monitoring, including alerts and monitoring.
  • Configure and maintain End User Management for web applications for user traffic and web application usage.
  • Create custom data collectors to integrate with third-party applications and systems for APM integration.
  • Work with Application Development teams and Architects to identify application performance issues such as long-running queries, process deadlocks and bottlenecks, and application constraints (memory).


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or similar.
  • Previous experience as an AppDynamics APM engineer.
  • A minimum of 4 years of strong software engineering experience. Understanding of Java and .NET technologies (web service integration).
  • 2 years of hands-on Linux scripting and administration, or experience with managing middleware application technologies, is required
  • At least 3 years of experience with the deployment of enterprise-scale software systems, both on-premises and in the cloud.
  • Working knowledge of security practices and server hardening standards.
  • Experience installing, configuring, and optimizing AppDynamics application services (controller, EUM, data collectors, agents, etc.).
  • Good analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proven ability and initiative to learn and research new concepts, ideas, and technologies quickly.
  • Ability to transform an idea or need into a completed solution or work product.
  • Ability to understand automation and leverage it to do most work.
