<p><h3>Overview</h3><p>Architecture Team Lead, Northern Territories – Stantec, Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, Canada</p><h3>Your Opportunity</h3><p>An exciting opportunity exists for an energetic, experienced technical leader to lead the Northern Architecture team. The Architecture Team Lead position can be based in Whitehorse, Yukon or Yellowknife, Northwest Territories. The successful candidate will lead the Architecture group and will work closely with Business Centre (BC) leadership to deliver quality technical assignments and attract, develop, and retain qualified staff that demonstrate design and technical excellence. Reporting to the Business Centre Operations Leader, you will collaborate with the Northern Territories leadership team to market discipline-specific design and technical expertise to clients.</p><h3>Your Responsibilities</h3><ul><li>Lead and grow the Architecture team in the Northern Territories.</li><li>Collaborate with other architecture, engineering, and business leaders across the company.</li><li>Oversee and enhance the quality of projects, documentation, and processes in the discipline.</li><li>Attract, develop, and retain qualified professionals to contribute to the discipline.</li><li>Interact with counterparts across the business lines.</li><li>Partner with other leaders to review and manage workload, staffing, recruiting, career development and technical development.</li><li>Promote and enhance design excellence, professional standards and best practices within the region.</li><li>Participate in the Business Centre team building process for pursuits and projects, providing PMs with appropriate staff.</li><li>Implement region-specific methodologies for the creation and review of work plans, independent reviews, design reviews and technical reviews using Stantec frameworks.</li><li>Take timely corrective action on projects that encounter technical challenges and mitigate claims.</li><li>Lead risk mitigation across the full portfolio of projects.</li><li>Collaborate with HSSE to develop hazard assessments, safe work practices, planned job observations, safety training, and incident investigations within the discipline.</li><li>Assist leaders in delivery of the Business Centre’s employee compensation, career development, performance reviews and succession planning.</li><li>Increase the visibility of the Architecture team across the company.</li><li>Work with other local disciplines to deliver high quality design projects.</li><li>Collaborate with buildings engineers, planners, mobility planners, and landscape architects to develop and advance thought leadership.</li><li>Lead the architecture aspects of the project development cycle including client engagement, fee proposals, and project delivery.</li><li>Engage regularly with key clients to discuss projects, evaluate firm performance, and identify new opportunities for business development.</li><li>Perform other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.</li></ul><h3>Your Capabilities and Credentials</h3><ul><li>Demonstrated leadership in Architecture.</li><li>Results-oriented, able to work in a multi-disciplinary environment.</li><li>Technically versed in design methods and best practices.</li><li>Strong project planning and delivery experience.</li><li>Strong project management experience.</li><li>Commitment to professional standards, quality and health and safety.</li><li>Strong leadership, management, business development, communication and team-building skills.</li><li>Ability to create and implement innovative client solutions and integrated deliverables aligned with business objectives.</li><li>Proven experience in building and maintaining client and stakeholder relationships.</li><li>Effective communication and ability to develop internal relationships and foster collaboration.</li><li>High integrity, enthusiasm, and a desire to succeed.</li><li>Strong written and verbal communication skills.</li><li>Proficiency in drafting/design software such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, Photoshop, InDesign, and Adobe Acrobat is an asset, but not required.</li><li>Thorough understanding of codes, legal and design requirements with significant local jurisdictional experience.</li></ul><h3>Education and Experience</h3><ul><li>Bachelor’s or master’s degree in architecture or a related discipline.</li><li>Registered Architect or related professional designation.</li><li>Minimum of 10 years of experience in a multi-disciplinary architecture and engineering practice. Typical work is office-based; field work may involve exposure to the elements.
