<h3>Job Description</h3><p>Job Description<p><p>We are currently looking for ASL Interpreters for a variety of academic disciplines. Candidates will be expected to attend <strong>in person classes at <span >university/colleges</span> in Oshawa</strong> and surrounding regions. These service providers help students overcome barriers in class to succeed! </p><p>We have a preference for candidates with an understanding of technical terminology for Computer Science, and STEM classes , however, those a part of other educational disciplines are welcome to apply. </p><p>Responsibilities:</p><ul><ul><li>Provide interpreting and transliteration services to deaf and hard-of-hearing students, faculty, and staff in academic and non-academic settings, including classrooms, meetings, events, and activities, as requested by the university or college.</li><li>Follow ethical standards of the profession, maintain confidentiality, and adhere to the university or college's policies and procedures.</li><li>Maintain accurate and timely records of interpreting services provided, including timesheets, invoices, and other necessary documentation.</li><li>Attend required meetings and trainings, as specified by the university or college.</li><li>Maintain professional development by staying current with new developments and advancements in the field of ASL interpretation.</li></ul></ul><p><strong>Requirements</strong></p><p>We are looking for individuals who have</p><ul><ul><li>An active member of the Canadian Association of Sign Language Interpreters (CASLI)</li><li>Minimum 2 year post-secondary diploma/degree from an accredited program. </li><li>Ability to match the diverse language use of consumers. </li><li>Experience with ASL Interpretation in an academic environment</li><li>Sensitivity to the needs of people with disabilities.</li><li>Ability to analyze and process information quickly</li><li>Able to work independently- being on time, dependable and able to meet deadlines</li></ul></ul><p></p><p>We require a minimum commitment of one academic semester.</p><p>Assignments vary depending on the student’s schedules.
