<p>Job Description</p><p>Building Services <span>Engineer (Working</span> within a <span>University)</span></p><p>Location - Southampton</p><p>6-month temporary position - may become permanent after 6 months.</p><p>£22.28 per hour based on a 37-hour week - weekly pay</p><p>Flexible start/finish times.</p><p>Reed Recruitment are recruiting for a mechanically biased, Building Services Engineer, for a period of 6 months to work within a university in Southampton.</p><h3>About the Role</h3><p>We are seeking a skilled and proactive Mechanically Biased Building Services Maintenance Engineer to join our client's Estates and Facilities team at a University in Southampton. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a dynamic and diverse environment, supporting the smooth operation of campus buildings and infrastructure.</p><p>As a key member of the maintenance team, you will be responsible for the upkeep, repair, and improvement of mechanical systems across a wide range of academic buildings.</p><h3>Key Responsibilities</h3><ol><li>Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive repairs on mechanical systems including HVAC, pumps, boilers, and plumbing.</li><li>Diagnose faults and perform repairs to ensure minimal disruption to university operations.</li><li>Support energy efficiency and sustainability initiatives through effective maintenance practices.</li><li>Liaise with contractors and other trades to ensure high standards of service delivery.</li><li>Maintain accurate records of work.</li><li>Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and university policies.</li></ol><h3>About You</h3><p>Relevant qualifications in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services.</p><p>Proven experience in a similar role within a commercial, public sector, or educational environment.</p><p>Knowledge of mechanical systems, including HVAC, heating, and plumbing.</p><p>Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.</p><p>Good communication and interpersonal skills.</p><p>Awareness of health and safety legislation and best practices.</p>#J-18808-Ljbffr
