<h3>Job Description</h3><p>Job Description<p><p><strong>Scope of Position: </strong></p><p>Under the supervision of the Nutritional Services Supervisor and as a member of the multidisciplinary care team, to provide dietary services to respond to the Residents’ nutritional care needs and to provide safe, personally acceptable nutritious food to Residents.</p><p><strong>Position Description:</strong></p><ul><li>Undertake all duties and responsibilities in compliance with Health and Safety standards, guidelines and legislation, including compliance with Public Health standards and Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care regulations</li><li>To follow point of service notes, relating to portion and various diets, foods and nutritional snacks to Residents in a safe and appetizing manner.</li><li>To prepare and set up steam table counter and serving area</li><li>To prepare dining room settings</li><li>To clean and maintain kitchen and dining areas including floors, counters, cabinets, tables, furnishings, equipment and supplies (e.g. dishes)</li><li>To dispose of recyclables and garbage</li><li>To participate as a team member in providing Resident centered care and service</li><li>Orientate new staff and student placements as required</li><li>Participate in in-service educational opportunities</li><li>Maintain awareness (at all times) of emergency procedures; participate in drills and associated educational opportunities.</li><li>To be aware of and comply with all Corporate and facility policies and procedures</li><li>Confidentiality is of extreme importance and must always be maintained</li><li>Adhere to infection control policies, procedures, protocols, routine and additional practices as required</li><li>Occasionally required to assist co-workers in tasks not directly related to this job</li></ul><p><strong>Requirements</strong></p><p><strong>Knowledge and Experience:</strong></p><ul><li>Grade 12 graduation or equivalent</li><li>Current Safe Food Handler Certificate</li><li>Certified Food Service Worker Certificate (completed or enrolled in program prior to date of hire and must be completed within 3 years from date of hire)</li><li>Previous experience in long term care dietary services an asset</li></ul><p><strong>Skills and Abilities:</strong></p><ul><li>Resident and customer service focus</li><li>Good communication skills (both oral and written)</li><li>The ability to work independently as well as part of a team</li><li>Familiarity with operation of telephone system and institutional kitchen equipment</li><li>Must be committed to a common purpose, performance goals and approach</li><li>Creativity in the plating and preparation/ presentation of attractive and appetizing meals</li><li>Computer expertise in corporate standard software (Microsoft Office) and department specific software to data search and entry and to create and modify word processed documents</li><li> Must be aware of safe work practices as they relate to job responsibilities and work environment, and have the basic understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act.</li></ul><p><strong>Benefits</strong></p><p><strong>Posting #: </strong>SEIU 20.25</p><p><strong>Position:</strong> Dietary Aide</p><p><strong>Status: </strong>Permanent Part Time </p><p><strong>Number of Vacancies: </strong>up to 3</p><p><strong>Employee Group: </strong>SEIU Local 1.
