As a HR Advisor for PCL Constructors Canada Inc. in Ottawa, Ontario, you’ll join a high-performing, collaborative HR team that partners closely with district and project leadership to support complex and fast-paced operations. In this role, you will advise leaders and employees across a diverse client group, contributing directly to workforce planning, talent development, and employee experience initiatives. Here's how aHR Advisor for the Ottawa District contributes to our PCL team:

Provide advice and guidance on HRPD programs, policies, practices, and compliance for designated client groups.

Actively participate in department HRPD planning and lead the design, execution, and evaluation of district-level initiatives.

Coach and train leaders and employees on career development, performance management, and growth strategies.

Advise supervisors on employee relations, compensation, recruitment, performance improvement, and workforce planning.

Conduct local market research for annual compensation reviews, manage calibration of salary, bonus processes, benefit administration and performance ratings for client groups.

Develop and implement recruitment plans with effective sourcing strategies to attract top talent, and successfully onboard new hires.

Build and maintain strong, customer-focused relationships with district stakeholders to ensure HRPD solutions meet business needs.

Oversee training programs and student development strategies, maintaining partnerships with academic institutions to support talent pipelines.

  • Provide on-site HR support to project teams as needed, including periodic travel to project locations and regional offices.

Qualifications

  • Postsecondary diploma or degree in human resources or a related discipline (preferred).
  • Working towards an HR designation (preferred).
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive human resources experience (preferred).
  • Ability to tactfully and diplomatically deal with people and act with discretion when handling confidential information.
Strong research and analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and provide actionable recommendations.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively within a highly matrixed organization.
  • Skilled in mentoring and coaching entry-level HR professionals.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to negotiate and present ideas and content that influence a favorable outcome.
  • Strong networking skills with the ability to develop and maintain HR relationships accross the organization.
  • Proven ability to apply critical thinking to resolve complex HR issues and support business objectives.

The estimated salary range for this role is $85,935.00 - $111,210.00, based on your experience and qualifications. Final compensation will be confirmed as part of a personalized offer.
