LTO Secondary: 1.0 Intermediate Science and Special Education (Structured Learning) - Semester 2 only


Durham District School Board invites applications for this Long-Term Occasional Teacher (LTO) position. This role teaches Science and Special Education for grades 9‑12 during Semester 2 at a full luminous 1.0 FTE.


The board acknowledges that many Indigenous Nations have longstanding relationships with the territories where our schools are located. This area is part of the traditional treaty territory of the Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation, the Mississauga Peoples, and the Chippewas of Georgian Island. We honour these ancestral lands in all aspects of education.


Key Responsibilities



  • Develop and deliver engaging lessons aligned with the curriculum and support student learning.

  • Assess and monitor student progress, providing feedback to help students grow.

  • Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment where every student feels valued.

  • Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and the community menghild enhance student learning.

  • Adapt teaching methods and materials to meet the diverse needs of students.


Qualifications and Additional Information



  • Required subject qualifications: Intermediate Science, Special Education Part 1.

  • FTE: 1.0 Semester 2.

  • Grade(s)/assignment: 9‑12.

  • Tentative course codes: SNC1W1, 2 SLC.

  • Ontario teaching certificate (OCT) in good standing.

  • Secondary LTO salary range: $57,986 – $119,967 per year (pro‑rated for part‑time).

  • External hires may take up to 10 working days to process, potentially affecting the start date.
