Job Description


Under the direction of the Manager of Nursing Practice and Education, the Clinical Nurse Educator is responsible for ensuring all work is in alignment with the organization's missions, goals, values, and strategic plans to promote high quality, safe client care. This is accomplished by assisting in establishing and maintaining best practice; assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating unit orientation, in‑servicing and other educational programming; assessing learning needs; acting as a clinical resource; promoting client and family centered care; participating in committee work as assigned; participating in continuous improvement activities; developing and maintaining client and staff resources. The CNE will function as a member of the interprofessional clinical team to promote effective delivery of client care in the SHA (Saskatoon), including regular direct communication and input from the clinical nursing manager of 5th Medicine.


Experience



  • Experience in a clinical leadership role such as charge nurse or equivalent

  • 3 years recent full‑time equivalent experience working on a medicine unit

  • Experience with cardiac monitoring


Education



  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN)


Licenses



  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support Instructor Certificate (ACLS)

  • Basic Life Support Certificate (BLS)

  • Basic Life Support Instructor Certificate (BLS)


Competencies



  • Basic - Writing skills

  • Basic - Communication skills

  • Basic - Computer skills

  • Basic - Verbal communication skills


Knowledge and Abilities



  • Ability to work as a member of a multi-disciplinary team

  • Knowledge in nursing process and principles of adult learning

  • Ability to work independently
