Job Description

The Winnipeg Regional Health Authority is seeking motivated Physician Assistants/Clinical Assistants for 2 full-time positions in the Anesthesia Program at the Health Sciences Centre, in Winnipeg, MB.

Responsibilities

The Physician Assistant/Clinical Assistant will be required to perform, order, and interpret diagnostic and therapeutic investigations/interventions. Duties of this position can/will include performing history and physical exams in a variety of settings that could include the Emergency Department and wards, as well as following patients in the pre/peri/postoperative ward and/or other clinical settings.

Physician Assistant/Clinical Assistants will be required to attend clinical and educational rounds. Administrative requirements will include standard of practice recordings of all patient encounters; these methods may require dictating or utilizing electronic medical records where/when available. Assistants must be able to communicate effectively in English with other members of interdisciplinary healthcare teams.

THIS IS NOT A MEDICAL ASSISTANT OR MEDICAL OFFICE ASSISTANT POSITION

Salary will commensurate with experience and qualifications and is accompanied by a benefits package.

Qualifications

• Must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba as a Physician Assistant or Clinical Assistant.


• Must be eligible for a Medical Staff Appointment.


• Prior experience preferred.


• Successful completion of the one-year Manitoba Anesthesia Clinical Assistant Training program required.


• Candidates must be a graduate of a Physician Assistant Educational Program acceptable to CPSM.

Clinical Assistants:

• Must be a graduate of an accredited Medical School in Canada or abroad.


• Must have at least one of the following:




• Clinical Assistant Assessment.


• NAC OSCE.


• LMCC.

This position is subject to a Criminal Record Check, including Vulnerable Sector Search, Adult Abuse and Child Abuse Registry Checks. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred.
