Property Claims Leader - Field Adjusting


Our Property Claims team is looking for a Property Leader (Hybrid) to join their Field team. In this role, the Claims Leader will create an environment that empowers people to do their best work, build a stronger team by developing employee potential and identifying opportunities to improve system conditions for better customer service and financial performance.


This is a hybrid role requiring flexible working hours, including weekend and after‑hours work based on business needs such as catastrophe events.


What You'll Do



  • Identify, assess and retain the best talent to strengthen our business.

  • Support training, develop capability, and manage performance while helping employees with career aspirations.

  • Have honest, constructive conversations, set clear direction, and give frequent feedback to improve performance.

  • Lead positively through the implementation of change.

  • Apply risk‑management controls proportionately.

  • Ensure technical development of claims file handlers.

  • Conduct ride‑along inspections with your team to develop technical acumen and superior scoping skills, and look for opportunities to improve the customer experience.


Operational & Performance Effectiveness



  • Create an environment dedicated to exceptional customer outcomes and champion service improvement.

  • Use data to understand performance, and initiate improvement activities through execution.

  • Analyze customer demand to identify root causes of waste and failure.

  • Be “in the work” to understand people’s capability and unit performance.

  • Make decisions using data, observe the environment, and remove performance blockers.

  • Participate in the quality‑assurance programme and ensure timely training.

  • Understand and mitigate internal and external claims risks; meet compliance obligations.

  • Take full responsibility for team results and understand the impact of key decisions.


Business & Financial Acumen



  • Clearly articulate the link between purpose, strategy, commitment, and culture.

  • Expertly understand the claims experience and technical strategic direction.

  • Seek incremental improvements for customers daily.

  • Understand financial elements to maintain strong performance.

  • Maintain accuracy and integrity of financial data captured in Aviva systems.

  • Identify and report suspected fraud or financial irregularities per procedures.


Innovation



  • Identify opportunities to improve the customer journey, claims processes, and financial outcomes.

  • Lead change initiatives for the team and business function.


What You'll Bring



  • CIP or FCIP Industry designation.

  • University Degree or College Diploma or equivalent property technical experience.

  • 5+ years of claims/insurance industry experience with strong property knowledge.

  • 2+ years of people‑leading experience.

  • Experience with performance management and career development.

  • Call‑Center / First Notice of Loss or catastrophic event experience.

  • Technical competence in personal and commercial insurance.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication.

  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook.

  • Data‑driven insight for performance improvement.

  • Sound decision making and problem‑solving skills.

  • Prior experience sketching and scoping building damage.
