<h3>Job Description</h3><p>Job Description<p><p><strong>Job Title:</strong> Senior Construction Estimator<br /><strong>Location:</strong> Head Office (Hamilton-based)<br /><strong>Position Type:</strong> Full-Time<br /><strong>Salary:</strong> $100–$125K<br /><strong>Travel Required:</strong> Occasional (to job sites)<br /><strong>Work Environment:</strong> 5 days In-Office, Monday to Friday – no remote or hybrid options</p><p></p><strong>About the Opportunity</strong><p>This Hamilton-based Commercial General Contracting business is seeking a Senior Estimator to join their team. This is ideal for a seasoned professional with strong people skills and technical estimating expertise who is ready to take the lead on a variety of commercial construction projects.</p><p>As the Senior Estimator, you’ll be a key contributor to the success of institutional and commercial builds, including schools, churches, pump stations, and renovations, excluding residential and civil construction.</p><p>You’ll lead and mentor the estimating team, play a central role in developing winning bid strategies, and help foster relationships with trades, suppliers, and industry partners.</p><p></p><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong><ul><li><p>Lead and support the estimating team in developing detailed and competitive bids</p></li><li><p>Review project drawings, specifications, and contracts to prepare accurate quantity takeoffs and pricing</p></li><li><p>Oversee budgeting and cost estimates for 10–12 active projects on a rolling basis</p></li><li><p>Solicit and evaluate quotes from subcontractors and suppliers</p></li><li><p>Lead bid strategy meetings and coordinate bid submissions</p></li><li><p>Collaborate with project managers and clients during the preconstruction phase</p></li><li><p>Attend local construction association events and build relationships with suppliers and trades</p></li><li><p>Maintain historical pricing databases and continually seek cost-saving or value-engineering opportunities</p></li></ul><p></p><strong>Required Qualifications</strong><ul><li><p>7+ years of experience in commercial & institutional estimating within the construction industry</p></li><li><p>Diploma or Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field</p></li><li><p>Strong knowledge of Ontario construction markets, codes, and standards</p></li><li><p>Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Outlook; experience with Bid2Win is a strong asset</p></li><li><p>Familiarity with CMiC construction software is an asset (used by the project management team)</p></li><li><p>Excellent organizational, communication, and relationship-building skills</p></li><li><p>Strong attention to detail and ability to work to deadlines</p></li></ul><p></p><strong>Additional Details</strong><ul><li><p>Compensation: $100,000–$125,000+, depending on experience</p></li><li><p>Work Schedule: 8 hours per day, In-Office, Monday to Friday</p></li><li><p>Geographic Requirement: Must live within a 1-hour commute of the Hamilton office</p></li><li><p>Supervisory Role: No direct reports, but will mentor junior estimators</p><p></p></li></ul><p>We’re looking for someone who takes pride in their work, enjoys building strong industry relationships, attends industry events, and thrives in a collaborative environment.
