Job Title: Senior Data Engineers (2 positions)
Job Type: Full-time 13-month Contract
Duration: Until December 2026 (with strong potential for extension)
Start Date: ASAP
Location: Remote (Preference for candidates in Mississauga or Montreal, QC)
Hourly Rate: $110/hr Inc.
Shift Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM EST (Must be able to work with Eastern Time Zone)
Role Summary
The Senior Data Engineers will be responsible for building scalable, efficient, and standardized data pipelines and data products within our client's Microsoft Fabric and Azure ecosystem. Working closely with the AI Automation Engineer and internal teams, they will design and deliver enterprise-grade data solutions that serve as the backbone of data-driven initiatives. Ideal candidates will be self-driven, collaborative problem-solvers with deep technical knowledge of data engineering, CI/CD, and Fabric-based architectures.
Key Responsibilities
- Pipeline Development: Design, build, and maintain efficient ETL/ELT pipelines in Microsoft Fabric, integrating data from SAP BW and other enterprise sources.
- Data Product Engineering: Build standardized, reusable, and high-quality data products supporting analytics and Power BI reporting.
- Collaboration & Initiative: Work closely with business users to gather requirements proactively, without waiting for direction.
- Automation Support: Partner with the AI Automation Engineer to integrate automation frameworks that accelerate data product creation.
- Data Modelling: Develop semantic models and star schemas that power analytics and BI solutions.
- Governance & Quality: Implement observability, lineage, and quality controls following DataOps best practices.
- Performance Optimization: Monitor and optimize pipelines for speed, reliability, and scalability.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay up to date on evolving Fabric features, Azure Synapse, and modern data engineering techniques.
Qualifications
- 10-14 years of experience as a Data Engineer, BI Engineer, or similar role.
- Proven experience with Microsoft Fabric, Data Factory, Power BI, and Data Lakehouse architectures.
- Strong programming skills in Python, SQL, and experience with CI/CD tools.
- Familiarity with Azure Synapse, Purview, and Azure data governance (Purview experience is a nice-to-have).
- Solid understanding of data modelling, metadata enrichment, and data mesh/data product principles.
- Hands-on experience connecting to SAP BW or ERP systems.
- Strong collaboration skills and ability to work cross-functionally with technical and business stakeholders.
- Self-starter with a proactive mindset and excellent problem-solving abilities.
