<p><b>Senior Software Engineer, Backend (Loans Platform)</b></p><p>Join Affirm as a Senior Software Engineer for the Loans Platform team, responsible for core loans products. We are experiencing exponential growth and seek a candidate to help scale the product by 100x, adding new features to make loans more accessible. Collaborate cross-functionally with product and engineering teams to support growth and launch new products. Be part of building a trusted, honest financial services brand.</p><h3>What You'll Do</h3><ul><li>Own and deliver quarterly goals, lead engineers through ambiguity, and support your team throughout delivery.</li><li>Collaborate with product management, design, and analytics in the product development lifecycle, including ideation and technical decision-making.</li><li>Identify and advocate for project, process, technology, or business issues, leading their resolution.</li><li>Support team operations by creating and monitoring metrics, escalating issues, and maintaining system reliability.</li><li>Foster a culture of quality and ownership by setting standards and sharing knowledge through writing and tech talks.</li><li>Develop talent by providing feedback, guidance, and leading by example.</li></ul><h3>What We Look For</h3><ul><li>4+ years of experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems at scale using languages like Python or Kotlin.</li><li>Experience with highly available distributed systems using AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.</li><li>Proven ability to define technical plans for significant features with elegant, simple, and extensible designs.</li><li>Strong skills in making significant changes to large codebases safely and effectively.</li><li>Ownership mindset with proactive feedback seeking and growth orientation.</li><li>Excellent verbal and written communication skills for global collaboration.</li><li>Equivalent practical experience or a Bachelor’s degree in a related field.</li></ul><h3>Compensation and Benefits</h3><p>Base pay ranges from $150,000 to $200,000 CAD annually, with potential equity rewards.
