By offering a complete Structural, Miscellaneous, and Custom Metal Fabrication solution, we strive to make the building process less complicated.</p><p><br><br></p><p><em>We are seeking a licensed Structural Engineer to join our team and collaborate in the design of structural steel connections for a variety of industrial and commercial projects.</em></p><p><br><br></p><p>Structural Steel Engineer</p><p>The Structural Steel Engineer is integral to our engineering operations, bridging the gap between conceptual design and fabrication-ready solutions. The ideal candidate is not only technically strong in connection design but also thrives in a collaborative environment, working closely with our drafting team and project stakeholders to deliver efficient, safe, and code-compliant designs.</p><p></p><p>Reporting to: Drafting Manager</p><p></p><p>Key Responsibilities</p><ul><li>Perform and approve structural steel connection designs in accordance with applicable codes and standards.</li><li>Review project drawings and collaborate with drafters/ detailers/ modelers to ensure clear, buildable, and structurally sound connection details.</li><li>Stamp and sign engineering drawings and calculations, ensuring accuracy, code compliance, and engineering best practices.</li><li>Communicate and collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams and clients to resolve design challenges efficiently.</li><li>Participate in design review meetings and assist in the coordination between engineering, fabrication, and erection/site teams.</li><li>Stay informed on updates to engineering codes, materials, and connection methodologies.</li><li>Support shop and field teams by responding to RFIs and providing clarifications as needed during fabrication and installation.</li></ul><p></p><p>Qualifications</p><ul><li>Bachelors degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an accredited institution.</li><li>Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng) in good standing in Manitoba or eligible for immediate registration.</li><li>Minimum 35 years of experience in structural engineering with a focus on structural steel and connection design.</li><li>Strong understanding of steel connection types (bolted, welded, moment, shear, etc.) and their applications in fabrication and erection.</li><li>Proficient with structural analysis software (e.g., RISA, STAAD, S-Frame) and hand calculations.</li><li>Familiar with CAD or 3D modeling software (Tekla, PowerFab, or AutoCAD) and how engineering designs are translated into shop drawings.</li><li>Demonstrated ability to review and seal engineering documents and design reports.</li><li>Excellent communication skills able to explain complex technical details to non-engineering personnel and collaborate effectively with the drafting department.</li><li>Experience working in a steel fabrication or detailing environment.</li><li>Previous experience conducting structural site inspections or reviews.</li><li>Familiarity with building envelope connections, pre-engineered structures, or industrial framing systems.</li><li>Knowledge of Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB) standards is an asset.</li><li>Project management or team lead experience is a bonus.</li></ul></p></p>Browse Jobs in Canada by City
