<p><h3>Overview</h3>
<p>We are seeking a Tax Director to oversee tax compliance and planning strategies. Reporting to the Vice President, Finance, this role will be instrumental in managing tax provisions, regulatory compliance, and M&A tax strategies.</p>
<h3>Key Responsibilities</h3>
<ul>
<li>Develop and implement tax planning strategies that align with the company’s financial goals.</li>
<li>Oversee quarterly and annual tax provision processes, including calculations and reconciliations.</li>
<li>Ensure compliance with federal and provincial tax regulations.</li>
<li>Manage the preparation and filing of corporate income tax, sales tax, and payroll tax returns.</li>
<li>Conduct financial audits to assess accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.</li>
<li>Lead the budgeting process related to tax planning and compliance.</li>
<li>Provide tax support for M&A activities, including strategy, due diligence, and integration planning.</li>
<li>Collaborate with external advisors and regulatory bodies for audits and tax-related matters.</li>
<li>Research and implement new tax regulations impacting the business.</li>
<li>Partner with internal departments to provide training and guidance on tax implications.</li>
<li>Identify process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.</li>
<li>Support ad hoc projects and special assignments as required.</li>
</ul>
<h3>Qualifications & Skills</h3>
<ul>
<li>Post-secondary degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.</li>
<li>CPA designation required; Master’s in Tax or In-depth Tax Program (at least Level 1) preferred.</li>
<li>10+ years of corporate tax experience, with expertise in M&A tax and large project management.</li>
<li>Strong ability to align tax strategies with business objectives.</li>
<li>Experience managing relationships with third-party tax consultants and auditors.</li>
<li>Advanced accounting, analytical, and research skills.</li>
<li>Proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, lookups, sumifs) and tax software.</li>
<li>Strong ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.</li>
<li>Effective communication and interpersonal skills, confident in engaging with senior leadership.</li>
<li>A results-driven, problem-solving mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.</li>
