Toy & Collectibles Designer

223 Saskatoon

Job Description

About the role

We’re looking for a Toy & Collectibles Designer to help concept and design physical products across plush, vinyl, blind box figures, and art toys — products that are meant to live on shelves, not just screens.

This role sits at the intersection of character design, toy culture, and retail reality. You’ll be designing concepts that can actually be manufactured, scaled, and sold globally.

What you’ll do
  • Concept original plush, vinyl, and collectible toy designs
  • Develop character silhouettes, proportions, and expressions
  • Create sketches, turnarounds, colorways, and basic spec direction
  • Design with manufacturing constraints in mind (materials, size, cost)
  • Collaborate with production teams to take concepts toward factory execution
  • Help shape blind box assortments, rarity tiers, and collectible logic
  • Adapt designs across different IPs, brands, and collaborations
What we’re looking for
  • 3+ years designing toys, collectibles, or consumer products
  • Strong portfolio showing physical toy concepts (not just illustration)
  • Experience with plush and/or vinyl (both is a big plus)
  • Understanding of retail, blind box culture, and collectibles
  • Ability to think commercially, not just creatively
  • Comfortable iterating fast and collaborating with manufacturing partners
Bonus points
  • Experience with POP MART / Mighty Jaxx / Kidrobot-style products
  • Blind box or collectible series experience
  • Familiarity with factory handoff or overseas production
  • Passion for toy culture, street culture, or fandom-driven IP
